About the Role

Standard is looking for a motion graphics designer to join our production services team. You’ll support our roster of amazing creators by designing motion graphics and animations for their channels and original content for our streaming platform, Nebula. Nebula is growing rapidly and we want an animator with exceptional skills to help us bring high levels of creativity and production value to our creators’ Original shows. You’ll be expected to work efficiently, meet tight deadlines, communicate effectively and professionally with creators, and work closely with team members on shared projects. 

Our ideal candidate is someone who can think independently and creatively about how to display content in an aesthetically pleasing, dynamic way. We’re looking for someone able to learn and grasp new visual concepts and, in turn, teach them to others. You should also be able to adapt your animation and design style to suit a range of different channels. 

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality animations using a range of digital tools for YouTube, Nebula, and other video platforms
  • Bring creator content to life by following their visual direction and providing creative leadership and guidance on projects to add additional polish and improved production value
  • Adapt across an array of visual styles to match creators’ brands or their vision for Nebula content
  • Collaborate with, and take direction from, creators, supervisors, and colleagues
  • Respond to feedback efficiently and appropriately, ensuring that creators’ visions are met and the content is elevated wherever possible
  • Maintain organized files and workflows to facilitate collaboration in a remote work environment
  • Maintain an open and solution-focused demeanor when working with teammates or creators, especially when dealing with short deadlines, changing direction, and roadblocks
  • Manage a workflow that can be easily accessed and implemented by other staff members

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of After Effects experience
  • Ability to self-monitor to ensure deadlines are met and content matches the creators’ requests
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines
  • A strong eye for design and an interest in seeking new inspiration and design styles
  • Strong attention to detail and factual accuracy
  • Passion for being part of a team; strong ability to collaborate effectively in a remote work environment
  • A hunger for knowledge and curiosity about the wider world
  • Excitement about informative and informational online video content
  • Critical thinker who is adept at problem solving and meeting high standards, especially under tight timelines
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with creators, clients and internal staff clearly, respectfully, and with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Video editing experience is a plus
  • 3D animation experience is a plus
  • Illustration skills are a plus

About Us

Standard is a sort of talent management agency and production company for thoughtful YouTubers and podcasters. We do a lot of things, so it’s hard to explain it all in a single paragraph, but our mission is to empower independent creators. Most of our time is spent talking or working with the creators directly, one on one or in a group, coming up with better tools and toys for them.

We’re a distributed company. We have offices in NYC and Denver, but more than 50% of the team is remote, in exotic locations like the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Ohio.
